The dmesg shown is for 4.7, and was included to give information about the machine, not the version of the OS that is giving problems. For 4.7, I do have a custom kernel, in which I eliminated INET6 and faith1, and added pcm. I can post the config file if it is any use; I did not touch make.conf.
