Of course, it is certainly preferable to rebuild all ports for FreeBSD 7 (or re-install prebuilt packages). Uhm. I think that's wrong. I still have a few FreeBSD 4.x binaries that run fine on current versions of FreeBSD. E.g., C makes an art of confusing pointers with arrays and strings, which leads to lotsa neat pointer tricks; APL mistakes everything for an array, leading to neat one-liners; and Perl confuses everything period, making each line a joyous adventure . -- Tim Peters
