I took this as an oppertunity to become comfortable with the bug tracking system. I have tried to improve the documentation and filed a report. This is out of the handbook and not changed: The key combinations Alt+F1 through Alt+F8 have been reserved by FreeBSD for switching between virtual consoles. Use Alt+F1 to switch to the system console (ttyv0), Alt+F2 to access the first virtual console (ttyv1), Alt+F3 to access the second virtual console (ttyv2), and so on. I have added the part below: Comming from the graphical environemt Ctrl+Alt+F1 through Ctrl+Alt+F8 switches to a virtual console. Press Alt+F9 to switch back to the graphical environment. Now I have three questions. 1) The documentation applies for the use case with xdm configured on tty8 as in the table of section 4.2.1. In case xdm is not activated the standard configuration foresees one additional console. I think adding this information would overload the documentation. Is the documentation and my add on ok? This is related to the problem how detailed the documentation should be without blowing up everything. 2) I have generated my first bug report as https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=197685 Is it ok as it is? If something is wrong will somebody contact me or do I have to check bugzilla from time to time? Is it possible to interfer with somebodies work by filing a bug report? I do want to avoid any negative emotions. 3) Is it good practice to take the user name of the FreeBSD forum for the bugzilla account or does it not matter? Thank you for your time! Kind regards, Christoph
