Been trying to get an Exabyte Tape drive (SCSI) working all day with no luck - thought scsi tape devices were simple to setup with FreeBSD? I have a 2940W - every thing else (HD's,CD) works okay? Tried: cd /dev sh MAKEDEV st0 If I type 'mt rewind' below are the messages I get. Looks as though somethings not exactly right?! The Exabyte was terminated and I thought this might be the problem and took the terminators (3) out and the same symptoms. ***********output to screen regarding tape drive at bootup ******** Dec 30 21:43:23 eztravel /kernel: (ahc0:1:0): "EXABYTE EXB-2501 2900" type 1 removable SCSI 2 Dec 30 21:43:23 eztravel /kernel: st0(ahc0:1:0): Sequential-Access density code 0x92, 1024-byte blocks, write-enabled Dec 30 21:43:23 eztravel /kernel: ahc0: target 2 synchronous at 4.0MB/s, offset = 0xf *********start of error messages trying to use tape drive ********** Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: ahc0: target 1, lun 0 (st0) timed out Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: sd2(ahc0:6:0): ILLEGAL REQUEST asc:20,0 Invalid command operation code Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: st0(ahc0:1:0): UNIT ATTENTION asc:29,0 Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: st0(ahc0:1:0): Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: ahc0: WARNING no command for scb 0 (cmdcmplt) Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: QOUTCNT == 0 Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: ahc0: target 6 synchronous at 10.0MB/s, offset = 0x8 Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: sd2(ahc0:6:0): UNIT ATTENTION asc:29,0 Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: sd2(ahc0:6:0): Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred Dec 30 21:44:17 eztravel /kernel: , retries:4 Dec 30 21:48:45 eztravel /kernel: ahc0: target 1, lun 0 (st0) timed out Dec 30 21:48:45 eztravel /kernel: ****************end of messages************* I pretty much need to reboot at this point.
