This is EXACTLY one of the major problems I had a few months ago when I first installed FreeBSD on a notebook. I complained at the time, but was basically told that the deficiencies of sysinstall were well known and would be worked as the knowledgeable people have time. While I certainly understand that, it doesn't change the frustration newbies feel when they can't figure out how to get past something that seems trivial to the more experienced folks. I wish I were smart enough to work on this problem myself. > this window is where i seem to get lost. I tripped over this one, too. My recollection is that "Package Selection" is just an opportunity to modify what you already picked as a group when you picked "X-developer", but my recollections are too often faulty to trust. I'm Cc:ing the newbies list, as you did, because that seems a reasonable place for this discussion, but if anyone expects me to see replies there it won't happen. I've tried twice to subscribe and it never seems to take, though majordomo replies to me like it has. -- Jerry Dunham FreeBSD (512)335-0674 (H) jdunham@fc.net jerry@dunham.org To vacillate, or not to vacillate, that is the question ... or is it?
