I have tried to install freebsd 4.4 on my Compaq. Freebsd 3.0 installed ok and I am updating to 4.4 cd booting from the boot floppies created with the version 3.0 cd.
The machine boots from the boot floppy and the install proceeds ok.
However I get a message similar to "the install was successful with some errors"

Behind the message I can see some text referring to "brandelf". I can't read the full message as it is obscured by the install message panel.
When I reboot the machine It won't allow me to login; I specified root password during the install.

Looking forward to some tips.
