Unable to obtain, because system won't boot

While trying to install 2.2.6, the system hangs after boot the kernel.  I tried  disabling all conflicting
devices but the system still hangs.   It identifies PCI bus 0, chip 0-4, vga0 and vx0 then hangs.

Just try booting the 2.2.6 CD.
