I'm also a complete newbie to freeBSD ;) Do yourself a favour and use /stand/sysinstall to do the job. It's easy to use. basically, do the Custom Install (Expert) and use the Partition and Label menu options. Be sure to use the Write Changes option in the Partition Editor and the Write option in the Disklabel Editor. Also, when you're prompted to choose a boot manager, be _very_ careful. :-) Ciao, Sheldon.
