This brings us back to the original problem :-) Now it doesn't panic during fsck immediately, it panics after unconfiguring the md(4) device (which leaves the /dev/md11* devices in place instead removing them) reconfiguring and then doing a new `disklabel ...` which tries to do a (still existing) new 'make_dev("md11s1")'....
