This can probably be fixed by upgrading KDE.  There was a patch--a few days 
ago instructions were given on how to apply it, but it seems that if you 
upgrade KDE from ports (first cvsup your ports) the problem will go 
away.  (Err, except for Dave, who has been unlucky.)   :)
