I run with aacp device on my aac controllers.  What indicators are  
there that this device needs to be removed?

With my recent upgrade to 6.1-PRE, I discovered that my Dell CERC  
(adaptec SATA RAID) controller no longer shuts down causing potential  
data loss.  (worked in 5.4 and yes I filed a PR).
