I'm really appreciated. However, some might notice that I *IGNORE* even "seems-to-be-correct" patches. Why? My policy is we should upstream all patches! that's all. I don't want to keep patches in the FreeBSD ports tree. Where my policy http://porting.openoffice.org/freebsd/ comes from? HERE: http://www.openoffice.org/FAQs/faq-licensing.html#usinglicenses * Why does Sun require copyright assignment for OpenOffice.org? Many open source projects require a copyright assignment so that the code base can be legally protected as a whole by one entity without having to worry about the copyrights for different pieces. Other prominent examples of projects requiring copyright assignment are the Mono project and the Evolution project, which both require assigning the copyright to Novell. The Red Hat Directory Server project requires assigning the copyright to Red Hat. The Sun Contributor Agreement is very liberal, as it requires sharing the copyright instead of fully transferring it and also guarantees that published contributions will remain under an open source license forever. * Do I have to fill out a SCA? Yes, if you intend to contribute source code or other materials which are intended to be compiled or otherwise integrated with the OpenOffice.org product, regardless of the size of the contribution (e.g., including contributions of 10 lines or less). However we encourage all contributors to the OpenOffice.org website domain, including the wiki, to fill out the SCA, as it streamlines the process for all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://porting.openoffice.org/freebsd/ * If you would like to submit patches for OpenOffice.org, please fill out and submit SCA (or JCA or CA), (announcement). otherwise, we won't commit them, even for the FreeBSD ports cvs repo. If you want to learn more, please check the License FAQ. Here is a list of people who have signed the SCA, JCA and CA. * If you would like to provide enhancements in the Makefile in the ports framework, you *don't* need to fill out SCA (or JCA or CA). Please refer the link for details. Thanks for your understanding and patient. -- Nakata Maho http://accc.riken.jp/maho/
