I took the radical step and did a pkg_deinstall -ar to remove all ports. I then reinstalled the ports I use and then cd to /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4, did a make deinstall clean and a make install clean. This build failed with fc-cache: "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1": /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: /usr/X11R6/lib/libfontconfig.so.1: Undefined symbol "FT_Get_BDF_Property". I then did a google search on the net for FT_Get_BDF_Property and found, what appear to be two solutions, the first was a old versions of the freetype libs were laying around in /usr/lib and/or /usr/local/lib and the other from you on the build order. So I checked for libfreetype* in the two lib dirs and didn't find any. I then pkg_deinstall'ed freetype2, fontconfig and Xft and tryed a reinstall in that order. the problem was that fontconfig failed with the FT_Get_BDF_Property error. Any thoughts on what I need to try/do to resolve this? Thanks Jim Ballantine ---------- In Response to your message ------------- > Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2004 13:37:04 -0500 > To: "J. W.
