-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Ruby 1.9.x has been the recommended version of Ruby from the official Ruby web site www.ruby-lang.org since at least April 2009. Many other systems are still using Ruby 1.8.x, but I get the impression that many people are building their own to use 1.9. I've been doing a good bit of work to make many ports compatible with Ruby 1.9. There are still a good number that aren't. There have been changes to portupgrade-devel to make it compatible with Ruby 1.9 and those should appear in portupgrade soon. There are others that still need work, I can provide a list of that's desired. I have a patch here: http://people.freebsd.org/~swills/ruby19_and_gems_changes6.diff which updates Ruby 1.9 and makes it the default. I would like to get feedback on peoples opinions of moving to Ruby 1.9. Should we go ahead and change? Or should we wait for others? If we want to do it before 9.0, we should do it soon.
