One thing that might be a problem as well is that I have two cards. An intel 
and an nvidia. The nvidia is this crippled thingy that writes into intels vram 
but has no direct output. I have the same behavior (blank screen) when I 
accidentally specify the wrong PCI BusID in xorg.conf.
