Yes this is a known problem.  Take a look at all of the reports
on Bug Parade at the JDC site.  Most of these reports are closed
stating that the problem can almost always be attributed to a
problem in the user's code.  This is utter bs!  Why do you think
they added the flush() method to java.awt.Image?
