I am running 2.1.5-RELEASE. I updated the ATAPI driver from the
file atapi_960716.tqz. My CDROM is properly recognized, and all
is well.
EXCEPT: My controller light stays on continuously. I eventually
figured out the call to WDCC_DIAGNOSE in wdprobe()[wd.c] causes
the light to come on and stay on if there is not an actual hard
drive attached to the controller. I added a call to wdreset()
after that point, and now my light behaves properly, and I see
no ill side effects. However, I do not have a controller manual,
so I am not at all sure what I did was legal or correct.
Could some authoritative individual please examine my change and
bless it or warn me of any danger so I'll take it out?
