I have tried getting sound on my laptop (targa p4 M 2ghz- don't know the exact model name). using kldload as wellas compiling device sound and device snd_ich in my kernel. The sound works. However, if the sound modules are enabled the performance of the entire system drops dramatically. It feels like everything is chugging as if its using alot of CPU. It goes back to normal as soon as I unload the sound driver. MY sound used to work perfectly in 4.8 4.9 4.10 5.2 and 5.2.1. So I'm not sure whats happening to cause this problem? Any ideas?? Charles
