Perhaps it is because I created some FUD about tty not being right for
plip.  GENERIC needs plip more than it needs lpt (since installing
from lpt is not supported :-).  However, tty and net should be equivalent
in GENERIC, and the problem in this PR shouldn't occur, since GENERIC
configures slip.
