I finally decided my FreeBSD needed to make more noise. I actually like the
sound hooks that exist in windows.

I went skimming through the ports collection looking for audio software. I
learned that I know nothing about the audio formats that are prevalent in
unix. I saw many MOD and MPEG programs and only a couple WAV programs.

I am really only interested in X apps for audio. After looking at the 30 or
so apps I am unsure what I really need. What do the netizens recommend for
an audio player app?

Thanks,
Jason Wells
