Default (english) dictionary installed, for ex:
cally:~$ aspell -a
@(#) International Ispell Version 3.1.20 (but really Aspell 0.60.5)
I have a cheque check

>Description:

In a multiline edit box or an email message, selecting
edit->check spelling

generates a "No dictionary available" dialog box stating
"could not check spelling because you do not have a dictionary installed..."
and offering a yes/no option to the opera.com site on installing aspell

>How-To-Repeat:

Attempt to edit->check spelling from a non-empty multile input field

>Fix:
No fix known. Appears to be the same problem as ports/109427 except this
is occuring with Opera 9.20 and the language is en_US rather than
ports/109427's non-en_US language setting
