Ideally all of the variables that a user can set to affect the behaviour of the common shared Makefiles in /usr/ports/Mk will be documented somewhere. Of the ones you mention, PKG_DBDIR is described in pkg_info(1). LOCALBASE and LINUXBASE are covered in The Porter's Handbook. However, I couldn't find anywhere where PORT_DBDIR was described other than the contents of /usr/ports/Mk, and it seems to me the natural place to document it is in ports(7).
