I am not so sure because most likely most of the processing is being
done in hardware.

 The problem is we don't know what Sigma Designs is having
 problems with . My wild guess is that there is no DirectX 
 counterpart in Unix so it makes it kind of hard for instance 
 to do yuv display with a decent frame rate.
