Hi Poul-Henning,

the release usage statistic use the data from the
www.freebsd.org log file (field User Agent).

There are some problems with this basic approach:

1) browsers with a faked user agent, e.g. Opera
2) browsers in linux emulation send Linux as OS, e.g.
   Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i386)
3) since some month Mozilla no nonger send the Version of FreeBSD,
only the OS and the hardware platform: "FreeBSD i386"

Point 3) is the biggest problem, because most users use Mozilla and
fewer and fewer people use Netscape 4.x ... The release statistic is now
useless - it is a statistic about die hard Netscape 4.x users
running old FreeBSD releases.
