I've searched through the archives and can't find the answer to my =
problem.

I have freebsd-2.2.5 (I'm planning on upgrading)

Just a couple of days ago I noticed that I can't login from telnet or =
the console.

When I try to login from the console I get no response after entering my =
login name (other than carriage returns). No password prompt. Of =
course Ctrl-C works as it should.

When I try to login from telnet to the telnet port, I get the FreeBSD =
welcome message but no login prompt. Telnetting to port 25 to sendmail =
seems to work as it should.

All other functionality seems to work properly, http, ftp, ping, etc.

I know how to get access to my server using -s at boot but I don't seem =
to find any problems other than my root file system was 90% full. I =
fixed that problem.

I would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

TIA

Jeff
