This most likely has to do with the fact that libgmp4 is used in -CURRENT, and the system libgmp3 is used on -STABLE. You might want to try rebuilding sawfish with the libgmp-freebsd port to see if it makes a difference. Note, this is not a permanent solution as 64-bit platforms don't like libgmp-freebsd. You may also want to poke around sawfish CVS, and see if something like this has already been addressed.
