There's a similar problem with Intel L440GX+ boards. 
I've found that disabling the BIOS over COM1 feature
allows me to boot without errors. My guess is that the
board is hanging onto the serial port (console) when
the boot loader tries to write to it.

but I don't remember Tyans having console redirection.
