I know a lot of people use it and are happy with the above controller 
from the mailing lists. I also have really good experience with the LSI 
9271 using the mrsas driver with disks in JBOD mode for ZFS storage.  I 
like the quality of the LSI cards. I have yet to have a bad port or 
cable connector on a dozen plus cards where as I have had the odd 
motherboard with dodgy SATA connectors.
