When I run pkg_version -v I get the output displayed at the bottom. Naturally I'd like to upgrade all my installed ports and specifically anything KDE related as I'd like to start playing around with Qt development. So how to I upgrade my installed ports without wrecking anything currently going on in my system? And secondly, I know that Qt in the ports (or according to the output below) isn't up-to-date with the latest Qt. Is that because Qt 3.0 isn't fully supported on FreeBSD, or just because no one has updated the ports package? If I can install Qt 3.0, how would I go about deinstalling all of Qt 2.x.x so that I can correctly install the new version from trolltech.com? Any Ideas? ~ Matthew Metnetsky ============================= met# pkg_version -v Mesa-3.4.2_2 = up-to-date with port bash-2.05a < needs updating (port has 2.05b) cups-base-1.1.12_2 < needs updating (port has 1.1.15.1_1) cvsup-16.1f = up-to-date with port cvsupit-3.0 < needs updating (port has 3.1) esound-0.2.28 = up-to-date with port expat-1.95.4 = up-to-date with port ezm3-1.0 = up-to-date with port fam-2.6.4 < needs updating (port has 2.6.8) gaim-0.59 = up-to-date with port gdk-pixbuf-0.18.0 = up-to-date with port gettext-0.10.35_1 < needs updating (port has 0.11.4) gettext-0.11.4 = up-to-date with port glib-1.2.10_7 = up-to-date with port gmake-3.79.1 < needs updating (port has 3.79.1_2) gnomehier-1.0_3 = up-to-date with port gtk-1.2.10_7 = up-to-date with port jpeg-6b_1 = up-to-date with port kdebase-2.2.2_2 < needs updating (port has 2.2.2_5) kdelibs-2.2.2_3 = up-to-date with port lcms-1.08 = up-to-date with port libaudiofile-0.2.2 < needs updating (port has 0.2.3) libgnugetopt-1.1 = up-to-date with port libiconv-1.7_1 < needs updating (port has 1.8_1) libiconv-1.8_1 = up-to-date with port libmng-1.0.3 = up-to-date with port libtool-1.3.4_2 < needs updating (port has 1.3.4_4) libxml2-2.4.12 < needs updating (port has 2.4.23) libxslt-1.0.9 < needs updating (port has 1.0.19) linux_base-6.1 ? orphaned: emulators/linux_base-62 lynx-2.8.5.d3 < needs updating (port has 2.8.5d8) mysql-client-3.23.47 < needs updating (port has 3.23.51) mysql-server-3.23.47 < needs updating (port has 3.23.51_1) p5-DBI-1.20 < needs updating (port has 1.28) p5-Data-ShowTable-3.3 = up-to-date with port p5-Mysql-modules-1.2216 = up-to-date with port p5-Net-Daemon-0.36 = up-to-date with port p5-PlRPC-0.2016 = up-to-date with port p5-Storable-1.0.14 < needs updating (port has 2.04) pcre-3.7 = up-to-date with port pkgconfig-0.8.0 < needs updating (port has 0.12.0) png-1.2.1 < needs updating (port has 1.2.4) qt-2.3.1_1 < needs updating (port has 2.3.1_2) sed_inplace-2002.06.28 = up-to-date with port tiff-3.5.7 = up-to-date with port xpm-3.4k = up-to-date with port To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
