Other people will tell you that root-over-the-net is a Bad Idea, and that you should instead login as an unprivileged user (but a member of group wheel), and use su -l to get root. Those people are right. Use the direct-login-as-root only if your network is secure. At least install and configure tcp wrappers on any machines connected outside your local network.
