I believe he was referring to the occurence of people being killed by their
own gun when an attacker takes the gun away from them, and then shoots them.

Owning a gun without being properly trained in its use is worse than not
owning a gun at all. Proper training includes learning about gun retention.
It also includes learning that you must never ever draw a gun unless you
are ready and willing to pull the trigger. A person who draws a gun but is
not mentally ready to shoot and KILL, is committing a suicide.

Such a person has a false sense of security. They may be pointing a gun at
the attacker, they may be saying don't move or I'll shoot, but their body
language shows they would not shoot. Many don't even know to hold the gun
properly.
