Subject: softupdates in latest build?

Folks,

I built a machine on Friday w/ FreeBSD-STABLE. Of course, this
was just before certain fixes were committed that would allow it to
actually successfully build a kernel, so I went back today and
cvsup'ed to the latest version.

However, it would appear that /usr/src/contrib/sys was not
included in this update, so any kernel that you might want to build
with softupdates enabled would not be possible.

I got a copy of the necessary files from another machine I built
a little while back (and which did not need to be cvsup'ed in order
to be able to build a kernel), so I think I'll be able to get this to
work.

However, the bigger question is why is this necessary? Did I
miss something fundamental with regards to cvsup that is explained
somewhere on <http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/stable.html>; or
<http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/synching.html#CVSUP>, or perhaps
elsewhere in the manual?

	Thanks!

Unix is like a wigwam -- no Gates, no Windows, and an Apache inside.
Unix is very user-friendly. It's just picky who its friends are.
