Doug Barton <DougB@gorean.org> posted a proposal [1], which colud be merged with this and simplified into recomending that the filename should be patch-foo-bar where foo is local, port, bug, or security (for where-to-install, portability, bugfixes, and security, respectively). On the other hant, it would often be hard to classify the patch into this (border cases would be common), so maybe Will's simpler proposal is better ...
