Unless we make installation of the perl package happen automatically as part of sysinstall. I spent an hour looking at sysinstall and got a head-ache. I'm not saying that this is a preferable solution, just a solution that we know will definitely work, while new C versions of these utilities don't have much time to get tested. Remember that we didn't remove Perl from the base system because we didn't think FreeBSD should ship with it; we had other reasons that related mostly to maintenance. These issues are not tickled by a package install. Of course, someone would actually have to work past the head-ache and produce a working patch for sysinstall. Ciao, Sheldon.
