This is pre-coffee and I'm still fscking the booze off my skull platters.) Without soft updates, make -j 3 world fails at the same point and make world succeeds on a 3.2-RELEASE box trying to upgrade to -CURRENT. So there's definitely a dependency issue which a serial build addresses. If Fritz is doing a serial build (are you?) and that's manifesting itself as a race condition with soft updates, that's a Very Bad Thing. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Aug 1999 10:47:26 -0400 From: Christopher Michaels Subject: RE: successful buildworld (even perl) after disabling softupdates I suppose that is possible. But for the record, I did a buildworld 3 days ago, on a soft-updates enabled partition and it worked fine. - -Chris > -----Original Message----- > From: Fritz Heinrichmeyer > > today i rebuilt my stable system after a fresh cvsup. > Former builds always broke in the stage "building everything" > on gnu/usr.bin/perl. > > The only thing i changed was the disabling of SOFTUPDATES. > > Can it be true that softupdates break make buildworld? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
