Some hard disks do make noises when reading data, others do not. I have had some that are easily heard, and they always were that way, and others that are silent. As far as backing up data, CDs are an option but with a lot of data that gets a bit inconvenient, maybe one of the GUI CD writer tools on FreeBSD makes spanning multiple CDs less of a performance. Maybe there is some tool to verify the CDs where written properly as well. I hope. I have another computer that I just copy the data to. Some people just install two hard drives inside their system and use the second as a backup. Some people use external USB hard drives. > > -- > > A: Because it fouls the order in which people > > normally read text. > > Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? > > A: Top-posting. > > Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and > in > > e-mail? > > _______________________________________________ > > freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list > > > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions > > To unsubscribe, send any mail to > > "freebsd-questions-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" > > > > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Tired of spam?
