It has .. I did this ..

	cd /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/ld
	make cleandir obj depend all install

 .. and, for reasons I don't follow, things that were nonsensical
disappeared, e.g. load averages > 15 on a relatively lightly loaded
486DX4/100,
