Well I tried to install Slackware once. After 3 tries and 2 days i still didn't see a command prompt. I admit I'm not unix guru, I have posted several *newbie* questions to this list. ( And try to answer a few in return). But I had FreeBSD installed by FLOPPY over the NET via a 28.8 dial up the 1st time in 6 hours, most was download time. I had X running the next day. I've installed a few more times and can install via ftp and have X running all in about 6 hours. Done it once with a set of CD's I borrowed and had it running in 2 hours. Give it a shoot. Make sure you have all your information ready you will need. I'd just print out the FREEBSD HANDBOOK pages on installing and follow the easy directions. > Why ? See above :) Good luck ! -- David L.
