This is not a DPT problem.  All the DPT does is get a SCSI command, pass it
to the controller and pass results back.

Very, very old.  You may have problems on certain platform.  I really do
not remember.

Something times out very badly.  The 9digits number is the number of
microseconds that passed since the command was issued.  Most DPT commands
complete in 2-80us.

I never tested on these controllers.  All my work is done on 3334UW{D}.
The fact that the boot floppy works indicates that the kernel and the
driver do work.

We install this kernel (current) on machines which have no other disk I/O
at the rate of 4-10 per day.  I would LOVE to fix bugs, but this appears to
be a ``cockpit error''.  Are you sure you use the proper kernel with the
proper release and do a plain, clear ``Novice'' install?
