At this point, I am looking to add SATA 6 Gbps ports for large HDD's. 
The drives can do ~150 to ~250 MB/s, so PCIe 3.0 (and 2.0) will not be 
the bottleneck.  STFW there are reviews using eight SSD's and the LSI 
9207-8i seems to keep up.
