Really?  It says "-O2 -pipe" here.  Maybe you should define CFLAGS in
/etc/make.conf.

Speaking of which, why is it that we ship the system with CFLAGS in
/etc/make.conf commented out?  Shouldn't hurt to have a reasonable
default, no?  (Note CC: line. :)
