It still didn't work easily, but that's probably what I deserve for trying to be underhanded. It seems like having librsvg2 included in USE_GNOME causes it to search for: Error: shared library "rsvg-2.4" does not exist but the librsvg2 package installs (from the pkg-plist) lib/librsvg-2.a lib/librsvg-2.so lib/librsvg-2.so.6 and the make blew up. Since I was being sneaky anyway, and since I *knew* that the latest greatest "cvs updated" librsvg2 port was installed, I just removed it from the USE_GNOME list and everything seems to be functional. I'll update the entire ports tree and do it clean this weekend when the machine can sit in the corner and talk to itself.... Thanks again for the help! g.
