So would mysql be a dependancy or should a > note be put saying that if you want mysql/msql/postgress support that you > should install those first? Others may disagree, but I don't like the idea of forcing every port to be it's maximum size. Just because it CAN do something doesn't mean it MUST do it. Take a look at how databases/postgresql uses an environment variable, USE_TCL, to choose whether or not to bring in tcl. Another possiblity is to use multiple ports, with differently designed dependencies, and a good example of using multiple ports with one master file is port/a2ps. I think I like the master port method, personally, because it creates packages already customized and named right, and Satoshi would probably like that (as long as they all package right). > > > Regards > Simon > > --- > +---------------------------------------------------------------+ > | Email: chaos@ultra.net.au, chaos@oz.org, simon@bofh.com.au | > | http://www.ultra.net.au/~chaos Simon.Coggins@jcu.edu.au. | > | Chaos on IRC, IRC Operator for the OzORG Network | > +---------------------------------------------------------------+ > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message > > ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@glue.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 213 Lakeside Drive Apt T-1 | Greenbelt, MD 20770 | I run Journey2 and picnic (FreeBSD-current) (301) 220-2114 | and jaunt (NetBSD). ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
