Subject:   Tagged queuing - how?

How con I turn on tagged queueing on my 2940,
is it even possible with the pre7 driver?

I have the aic7xxx pre7 driver compiled into a 2.1.117 kernel and a 2.0.35
kernel. I have set up tagged queue parameters
using lilo.
cat /proc/scsi/aic7xxx/0 shows that the driver has seen my
parameter list, but is using a queue depth of 1 anyway for
all devices.
I have tried various #define's in aic7xxx.c, and I have tried entering a
default queue depth array different from the
{255,255,255,...} found in the c file. This makes no difference.

Is the reporting in /proc/scsi/aic7xxx/0 correct?
Is this an indication that none of my drives support tagged
queuing? There is no boot messages to that effect.
I have three harddisks of different types and manufacture.
I also have a tape drive and a cdrom on the same bus.
"Disconnect" is turned off for the cdrom because it tends to
cause trouble otherwise. Could this affect the hard disks?
