It is not any longer, i.e. you can build a snapshot for 5.0 of 4.x, but this requires some black magic. The CHROOTDIR should be populated with the contents compatible with the running system, so you must buildworld for your 4.7-p1 first and not cross-build for 5.0 -- that's why you are getting the SIGSYS.
