Why not attached? Isn't it true that at the moment the
  "uk0: unknown device" appeares, the device successfully attached?

Where does "host_stat14" come from?
Too high bus speed?
Two SCSI contollers? (This is verry unlikely, because a MOD works great)
Cable? (This message occured with all Cables I tried)
Wrong Firmware/Hardware in the Scanner?
