Do the utils you've > ported work generally for all X apps or just Applixware? t1utils is neither an X application nor an Applixware tool, it's a collection of tools for translating postscript fonts between various formats, including one that can be hand edited. A list of what each does is in ports/print/t1utils/pkg-descr, and there are man pages for each utility available in the package. p5-type1inst - I assume that's the one Pedro ported, as the maintainer is one giffunip@asme.org - is also described in it's pkg-descr file; it's a perl script that builds the files needed to use PS fonts in X11 and ghostscript.
