That's a strange MTU for SLIP.  Even 552 is high.

Probably it's not compiled to take such a high MTU.

Why not?

I can't speak for Bay, but I know that Brian Somers *is* concerned.
Let's hear what your PPP problems are, and I would guess we could sort
them out.
