That's what `man > loader.conf' would appear to suggest. Duh. You're right :) /boot/loader.conf is the correct filename. And if you still want to try the kernel option, it's "MAXMEM=49152". The documentation is wrong; it should really read: options "MAXMEM=<n>" Where <n> is your memory in Kilobytes.
