Ummmm.  Well, slight correction there: There are no plans for Soren to
backport it to -stable or otherwise make it work, but that's not to
say that other folks don't have plans of their own. :-)

It would be simply unacceptable to leave a problem of this magnitude
in -stable and, fortunately, others are working on it.  PR#6686
already contains one set of proposed patches for this and the original
poster is more than encouraged to test them out.
